Because the luscious folds reminded me of a Caravagio painting.
Editing dance event photography is, for me, like revisiting my teenage readings in chiaroscuro, and especially Caravaggio, the artist who put the oscuro (shadows) into chiaroscuro (light and shadow). The process of painting in the light and shadows, both with my lighting and in Photoshop, can feel very much like oil painting used to.
I often think that there is less between modern photography (which includes Photoshop work) and illustration (a lot of which I do in Photoshop) than you might think.
