Some photos of 1.G.K at TEDXKyoto

Hiroki, Jodie and Me were still working in the hall, carrying around
massive subwoofers weighing about 150kg while the other speakers were upstairs getting drunk. A lot of people worked really hard to make it happen. Big thank you'd to everyone involved.

Me and Katsu, preparing our souls for the show.

While I'm getting the stage ready, Katsu is often found playing with a new app ;) This time, "Manga Camera"...

Although this time perhaps he was having a little too much fun...

The day before the show, the sound technician insisted we help him setup and do a sound check. It ended up a 16-hour day for me, without a break or a bite to eat, but it was all worth it in the end.

This is Kyoto University's Kihada Hall. Small, loud, but full of awesome people. iPhone panorama shot with DMD.

Here's another panorama shot from the back of the hall.

Me and the awesome Tokyo-based writer and investigative journalist Jake Adelstein, author of "Tokyo Vice", yakuza expert, nice guy, great speaker.

Us on stage on Sep 17th 2012. A day to remember. Thanks to Jay Klaphake for the opportunity, to all of the staff for helping to make it happen and to the crowd for being incredibly open to a loud dance-rock band at an event one doesn't typically associate with any of those four words.

A photo from Kiyomachi Dori in Kyoto last night. The most moving...

A photo from Kiyomachi Dori in Kyoto last night. The most moving part of the walk was being told by a small boy to look up into the trees, through the petals to a white bird that was sitting in a branch. Once I noticed one I realised there were dozens of these white birds, hidden and perfectly camouflaged among the white-pink sakura petals in full bloom. My jaw dropped when I realised how many of the little animals I had utterly failed to notice. The boy saw the stunned look on my face and smiled as if his work was done. He’d opened another adult’s eyes to the world around him he was failing to see. I thanked him and he moved off with parents. It’s amazing what you can learn from kids. They’re a constant inspiration.
